The scientific method depends on a key assumption: nature is regular and predictable (uniformity of nature). We assume past regularities continue and physical laws are universal. But this assumption cannot be scientifically proven — it is science's presupposition, not its conclusion. In an atheistic worldview, why should an accidentally-produced universe have reliable regularity? Why should tomorrow's physics match today's? David Hume's 'problem of induction' identified precisely this philosophical difficulty. Atheists cannot escape this. Saying 'nature has always been regular, so it will continue' is circular — using induction to prove induction's reliability. Saying 'science assumes uniformity and science works' is also circular — judging 'science works' also depends on induction (past success predicts future success). The Christian worldview provides a genuine foundation for nature's uniformity: a faithful, unchanging God who created and sustains cosmic order. 'The Lord's faithfulness continues through all generations' (Psalm 119:90). God's covenant with Noah (Genesis 8:22) promises nature's continuity — 'As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.' Natural law's reliability isn't accidental — it reflects the Creator's faithful nature. This also explains why modern science was born in Christian civilization rather than elsewhere: scientists believed nature had discoverable laws precisely because they believed a rational God created an orderly universe. Kepler said he was 'thinking God's thoughts after Him.'
