Mormonism (LDS Church) fundamentally diverges from orthodox Christianity: (1) God was once a mortal man on another planet who progressed to godhood (Lorenzo Snow couplet: 'As man is, God once was'); (2) Jesus is one of many spirit children in the pre-existence, a 'spirit brother' of Satan; (3) The Book of Mormon and later revelations are placed at equal or higher authority than the Bible. Mormon theology directly conflicts with Scripture. The Bible teaches God is from everlasting to everlasting (Psalm 90:2), unchanging (Malachi 3:6), the only true God (Isaiah 44:6 'besides me there is no God'). A God who evolved from a mortal is utterly foreign to biblical revelation. Archaeology and linguistics also raise serious questions about the Book of Mormon's credibility. It describes advanced Christian civilizations in ancient America using steel, war horses, and hieroglyphics — but archaeology has found zero evidence supporting these descriptions. DNA studies of Native Americans also don't support Israelite origin claims. Furthermore, Joseph Smith's Book of Abraham was proven to be an ordinary Egyptian funerary document (Breathing Permit of Hôr), not Abraham's personal record as claimed. Multiple Egyptologists independently confirmed this, severely challenging Smith's translation ability and prophetic claims.
